An excerpt from the book.
…He could not believe what he read; he imagined her shame. He spoke to her tenderly and asked if it was true and she, with her innocent dark sad eyes, said, “Yes” and cried as she confessed the whole ordeal, blaming Baron Heeckeren for all of it. Then Pushkin received a second anonymous letter that same day.
“The Grand Crosses, Commanders and Chevaliers of the Most Serene Order of Cuckolds, gathered in grand chapter under the presidency of the venerable Grand Master of the Order, S. E. D.L. Naryshkin, have unanimously nominated Mr. Alexander Pushkin coadjutor to the Grand Master of the Order of Cuckolds and historiographer of the Order.
Perpetual Secretary: Count I. Borch”
